Causes of left flank pain.?

I have a lipoma on the left side of my back its about the size of a nickel, The pain feels like a kidney stone, but no stone is present per the CT scan. The pain is fairly constant, it comes in waves increasing the severity but is constant. some times walking makes it worse, sitting will cause the pain to increase in severity. What could be the causes of this?
