Did supression tactics work on the Japanese in WW2?Did the Japanese use them?
Morale has a lot to do with it. The Japs used this tactic effectively at the start of the war when their morale was high. Superior or at least apparently Superior fire power kept the allies heads down and allowed the Japanese to advance. However when they were on the defensive, it worked on the Japanese to some extent. In the Pacific island battles they generally hid through bombardments only coming out at the last moments. There were still some last frenzied charges against all odds, but these were acts of desperation. Lets face it, if they had all just stood up and waited in the open, the war would have been rather shorter and we would have experience fewer casualties.
